Miranda is the premiere chapter of a comic book saga set in the far northwest of Turtle Island
This is Princess J’s first major solo feature, and is the prequel to an exciting series that celebrates the rich and myriad cultures of the North Pacific region. She is working as hard as she can to get this into your hands with expediency and without sacrificing the quality and integrity of this future world. Please stay tuned for updates.
Miranda’s only home is her boat: The Capricorn. Together they quietly skim the foggy inlets and open channels of the rain coast and beyond. The only catch is, her boat has a port-of-origin: Shingle. Additionally, The Capricorn is more than just a boat, and Shingle is MUCH more than just a safe harbour, and -given the nature of the skipper/boat relationship- this kind of makes Shingle Miranda’s home too.
So, upon returning home to Shingle after a 3-year absence with The Capricorn in need of repairs, Miranda finds out that her best friend has died. This jolts her with the realization of how isolated she really is, and if she wants to get her beloved Capricorn fixed, she will probably have to go allll the way to Vancouver and learn to be a little less self-centered.
Miranda is a story about hope in the face of suffering, the tenderness of human connection and the power of belonging. The story is told upon the backdrop of a richly illustrated world in the process of recovery from human and natural calamity.
